Sometimes

we have to look at a different perspective. The face is not the only beauty of the body, perhaps we can know a person, without looking at his/her face. Perhaps the feet and shoes can capture more soul of the person?

Blue and teal is KiireyBlog’s color combo of the month. So let’s do a color combo swap. The official swap is being hosted at Swap-Bot. Let’s take up the challenge and swap goodies in blue and teal, turquoise, red, pink, white and any color that fancies blue and teal color combo.

Swap-bot swap: Color Combo Lucky Parcel : Blue and Teal

How to join?

Head over to swap page at Swap-Bot, if you’re a Swap-Botter, you can just join right away. If you’re new to Swap-Bot, create an account, fill up your profile page (you must fill up a detail profile page so that your partner will know what to and what not to send to you) and join (if you’re new and has no feedback rating at all, just mention that you are KiireyBlog’s reader).

Sign up dateline is March 10, 2010. Partners will be assigned right after sign up closed and swap dateline is March 31, 2010. So you must collect, package and send out your pretty package before March 31st.

What to send?

It’s a lucky parcel, you must wrap and decorate your things as pretty as a cake. Some ideas on what you can send :
Handmade things (preferable, it’s really lovely to send someone something you made)
postcards/memo card/notecard
Plushies
Bath item
Buttons/lace/ribbons/any craft supplies
Stickers
or even write a letter
Random but pretty things that will make your partner smile when they open the package

Take Note:

Don’t make the package too heavy and shipping will be expensive, as this is an international swap. Estimate total items to be around $10.

Take a picture of your lucky parcel before you send out, email me the picture or if you have a blog, brag about it (but try to do it after your partner receive it).

Let’s have lots of colorful fun!

I Can’t Stop Drawing Poppies

I’m feeling artsy lately and took out my palettes of acrylic paints. Then I couldn’t help drawing and painting poppies. I love seeing them blooming on aged vintage papers. I made a series of Poppies ACEO.

Interview : NottyPooch

Artist/Crafter : NottyPooch (Huey and Wah)
Country : Malaysia
Blog : http://www.nottypooch.com/mydogdiary
Shop : http://www.etsy.com/shop/nottypooch

A lovely couple, Huey and Wah, run NottyPooch together and with a noble concept, for a greener environment as you can see from their range of product made from vinyl advertisement banners and buntings. Recycle, reuse and upcycle with style. And Kiirey has the opportunity to talk to them:

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Huey. I run a little business making recycled banner accessories and screen-printing cool t-shirts with my boyfriend, Wah. I’m approaching my 30’s *ahem*, petite, but I eat quite a lot. I majored in Oil Painting when I was in college but I haven’t been painting for years.

2. What is art/craft for you?
Art and craft is always about expressing myself. I find myself either always working out something that I want to use myself, or putting my thought and emotions on the t-shirts.

3. What is your favourite craft?

Erm… I don’t really have a particular one. I’m always curious about how something being done and I’m always looking for ways to learn new things. I like to mix and match techniques and materials too.

4. Other than crafting, what do you usually like to do for fun/relax?
I love spending time with our two messy dogs, and I enjoy baking, especially muffins. I used to love hiking and going to the beach but haven’t spent much time doing these lately.

5. Can you brief us a little about your daily schedule?

I normally wake up at 8 am, turn on the computer and briefly check for emails. Then I spend some time with the dogs, feed them, have my breakfast, and start working on our little business. I have flexible working hours at my day job and at times, I can work from home. Normally I start working on my day job at about 10 am. Lunch is normally around 12 pm – 1 pm, depending what I’m working on that day. After that, if I’m lucky, I get to have a 15-30 minutes nap, and continue working. Sometimes there are short tea breaks at around 4:30 pm. I normally stop working at about 6 pm, and start preparing to go for a short walk with the dogs. Dinner is normally at 7:30 pm, and I try to squeeze in a 20 minutes break for Wii Fit before dinner – that’s the new toy, teehee. Then I’m back in front of the computer and start working again, normally until 11 pm or 12 am. Urgh, sounds like a boring life. LOL! (Kii thinks it’s not boring at all!)

6. Are you a full time crafter?

Used to be, but not now. Wah is, but I will be one in January 2010. ;)

7. What or who inspire you?
Anything and everything around me. People, emotions, landscape, nature, animals. Oh and looking at great fonts and copywriting also inspire me a lot!

And NottyPooch says woof

Looking for a necklace that can make a bold statement? You should definitely take a look at Kyoto Hashimoto’s necklace designs. Most of her necklaces can be worn in two ways, shiny hand-polished acrylic side or natural wood side. Simply lovely and classy.
